Examinations

The Woodlands is in the top 100 schools in the country!

We are officially rated as one of the top 100 schools in the country for sustained improvement between 2007-2010! Click here to read the letter from Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for Schools.

The Government also released, in the Autumn term on 201, the scores by which it places schools into the latest league tables. We are delighted to announce that we have been placed amongst the top schools in the country, in terms of the progress students make during their time with us.

The West Coventry Sixth Form, based on both Woodlands Academy and Tile Hill Wood sites, has been placed in the top 2-3% of schools offering post-16 education, whilst The Woodlands School (for Years 7-11) is amongst the top 25% of schools in the country.

Government officials use many different forms of data to calculate the score which it applies to each school. The final figure is then used to form the league table showing how much students progress whilst at their secondary schools. Emphasis is not placed so much on final GCSE and A’Level grades, but on a more realistic gauge of how a student is truly progressing in his/her school. This is a much more accurate reflection of how well the school is teaching its students and how far the students are actually developing from their entering to leaving the key stage.

A common misconception is that only top academic students are always expected to do well in their exams but it is proven that, at The Woodlands, ALL of our boys are given the opportunity to progress, improve and to reach their full potential.

This is something of which we are very proud and we hope you share the pride in this achievement of our school.
