| Sparkes House is one of the original Houses of the school. Like the school it was opened in 1954 and took its name from Ned Sparkes, the highly respected Deputy Head of The Woodlands’ forerunner, the Technical College. Mr Smith became Househead in 2001 and has encouraged a hard working and caring ethos within the House. Staff and students alike mix freely with each other, to foster a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. All of the pupils are encouraged to become a valuable member of their tutor group and House by becoming an integral part of extra-curricular activities.
Sparkes boasts a proud record of sporting and academic success, and its staff are constantly providing opportunities for its pupils to express themselves outside of the classroom. Mr Smith and his team are firmly committed to providing each Sparkes Boy with as much help and support that they require in order to reach their potential and to become a success at Woodlands Academy. |
