Sparkes Hosue - 100% attendance awards
Celebrating attendance is a major part of life in Sparkes House. Mr Smith, Learning Leader, said “Students can gain a reward stamp for each week where they have 100% attendance and we have now extended this to include a bigger reward for 100% attendance for a full half term. Over seventy boys were treated to pizza and chips which were kindly prepared by Mrs Taggart and Mrs Vernon.” The scheme is reset at the start of each half term so that all of the students can have a fresh start but extra rewards will be given to the boys who continue to have 100% attendance throughout the academic year. Mr Smith added “Last year twelve boys in the House attended every day and it would be great if this number could be even higher this year.”

Year 7 Mob Match – Thursday 9th September 2010

The Year 7’s began the sporting year in style with a resounding victory in the traditional season opener.  The Mob Match is designed to get the new students used to House competition and is a cross country race over a mile long course.  The idea is to get as many runners as possible and Mr Smith was delighted that 23 of the 25 turned out.  Justin Maiden led the Rhinos home coming in 5th overall, closely followed by Jordan Guest in 14th, both securing their places in the school team.  However the event was won in the middle with 15 runners coming between 20th and 60th.  Mr Smith and Mr Gerrard who ran round with his tutor group were rightly proud and look forwards to more success in the coming months.
