When the school was created in 1953 one of the original Houses, Spencer, was run by a Mr Ellis, a Welsh international football player who had a reputation for being a stern but fair Househead. When he left the school many years later it was decided that it would only be right to rename the House Ellis. You can still see a portrait of Mr Ellis hanging proudly in the House today. Since the days of Mr Ellis there have been a number of Househeads, including more recently Mr (Boggy) Greaves and Mr Murphy (who is currently Assistant Head responsible for teaching and learning). The current Househead (Learning Leader), Mr R Berridge, is proud to continue the good name of the House in all fields including academic ability and sporting contribution.
