Children in Need Fundraising - November 2010

A very entertaining and fun lunch-time was had by all in Ellis House! That is by all apart from Mr Charlton, Mrs Jones and the House staff! Year 8 Ellis had asked to continue the Ellis House 'Children in Need' charity tradition of humiliating teachers by throwing custard pies into the faces of the staff!

Each member of staff placed a value on 'their head' and the raffle tickets began to fly out with boys looking forward to maybe being the one to place a custard pie in the face of their tutor. Mrs Jones and Mr Charlton decided (were gently pushed) into joining in the fun by asking for the boys to raise £250 and £300 respectively to have their chance. The boys managed to raise over £300, meaning they got the chance to custard pie all House staff, Head Boy Louis Guest, Mrs Jones and the Headteacher, Mr Charlton.

Many boys had their ticket drawn and got the chance to pie a member of staff but the luckiest boy of all was Liam Horwood who had the prize ticket of ‘custard pieing’ the Head. He looked apprehensive as Mr Charlton asked him "do you like it at this school, Liam?" but overcome this with a huge grin and a great shot that splattered all over the Head’s face.

House Head, Mr Berridge, said “I would like to thank all the boys and their parents for making the generation donations and Mr Charlton and Mrs Jones for their support, as well as all the Ellis House staff who always seem to step up to the mark and do above and beyond what is expected.”
