Year 7 Cresswell students take part in their first assembly.

On Friday 20th January, in front of the Cresswell House staff and students, as well as Year 7 parents, some members of 7Cr stood at the front of the House and gave their first assembly based on the theme "my favourite place". Red Nose Day 2011 in Cresswell House

This year for Comic Relief the school took part in many events and fundraising activities. There was a whole school non uniform day and a staff net-ball competition.

Here in Cresswell House, we had many different activities. We started the day with a ‘Gourmet Challenge’. Pupils competed in different food challenges to see who could eat different food products first, such as eating Maltesers hidden in a bowl of cream and Jaffa Cakes out of milk using only your mouth. Another challenge was seeing who could eat a doughnut first without licking their lips and another was eating baked beans with a cocktail stick.
At break time we had a massive cake sale—all cakes were donated by Cresswell students and staff and consisted of home-made as well as bought ones. There was a big crowd around the bake-sale as the cakes went down a treat!

As a thank you for all the money raised, the staff in the House took part in some activities themselves. They produced a picture board containing old photographs of themselves in their ‘younger days’. This turned out to be very popular with the students. Then lastly, they all took part in a game of Russian roulette with shaken cans of coca-cola!

Overall it turned out to be a fantastic day, with a grand total of just over £200 being raised for a worthy cause!

PGL - 2009/10

Cresswell’s trip to PGL proved to be an amazing success. The trip was open to all boys from Year 8 to Year 11 meaning there was a wide range of ages participating. Despite the age gap all boys got on really well and bonded together as a House, and staff were really impressed with the behaviour and participation of all boys. The boys had a full activity programme to keep them entertained and were able to experience some activities that they’d never done before. Day activities included the challenge course, mountain biking, zip wire, surfing, rifle shooting, quad biking and archery. Evening activities included ambush, ghost stories around the campfire capture the flag and a disco which was held with another school. Because of the success of this years trip we hope to make PGL an annual occurance.
