Geography |
| In Year 7 the students study six units including the local area, map skills, weather, and a country study. These units combine physical and human geography and look at the environmental impact that we have on the world.
Year 8 follows a similar pattern with six units such as natural hazards, rivers and coasts, globalisation and world development. These units again combine physical and human elements of geography but also investigates how the earth can affect humans and how different countries rely upon each other.
At GCSE level we follow the Bristol project. This is a modular course in which the decision making exercise (30%) is taken at the end of their first year, coursework (20%) completed during the first term in Year 10 and then a terminal exam (50%). The course has four main themes with sustainability linking all four. The themes are natural hazards, people and places, industry and natural environments. |
