In Years 9 and 10 the boys are engaged in G.C.S.E. Language and some will study for the Literature G.C.S.E. Their lessons are directed by the work they need for these exams. Homework for years 9 and 10 will be G.C.S.E. coursework and exam practise.
For boys in Year 11 there is a compulsory Literacy element to their studies. They can choose from a range of English based courses: • Journalism • Preparation for A-Level • Re-takes in both Language and Literature • Functional English • Adult Literacy and Numeracy. Homework here may be dictated by the final exam but for many courses is research based.
For boys who continue their studies into the Sixth Form, we offer several courses: AQA Advanced Level English Literature AQA Advanced Level English Language and Literature.
