| YEAR 7 - Using the Métro Bleu text book (Heinemann) teaching is topic based and looks to develop equally the four key language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. A homework book will be provided to each boy at the start of the year and learning homework will be set regularly. |
YEAR 8 - Some pupils, in addition to continuing French will start to study Spanish for one or two lessons per fortnight. Two textbooks are used depending on which teaching group a pupil is taught. Métro 2 Vert and Métro 2 Rouge (Heinemann) are used. A homework book will be provided to each boy at the start of the year and learning homework will be set regularly. During Year 8 pupils make their options. We highly recommend that a language is chosen at GCSE, particularly if a pupil has plans to follow a further education pathway. |
GCSE - Following the OCR exam board specifications and using Métro 4 Vert and Rouge, the course aims to improve the four key skills, develop vocabulary and grammar, and prepare the candidates for their coursework requirements, the speaking component of the course and the reading and listening examinations. |
Year 11 - Building on prior knowledge and on the pupils GCSE grade, this course will look to improve understanding of the language based on more in depth research of fewer topics. This is work that will link in to A level studies. |
